Scene 1: Prelude

Notes: opening scene (and all other cutscenes) will be done entirely 'live' with in-game sprites and backgrounds from an actual city in the game.

During a stormy night, thunder cracks the sky and the heavens bleed rain.

Amongst a tired group of guards on the cities outskirts, shivers of fear reign and wolves howl in the distance. Fire crackles at their feet and the fire pit bellows its toxic fumes into the night's cold air.

Thunder echos in the background.

One of the sleeping guards wakes, blinks, and turns his head to the right and then left of the screen.

Then with a large screen shaking beam of blinding light, lightning strikes nearby.

One of the guards stands and screams “Fuck!”

“God Damn!” another guards asks, “did you wet yourself?”

“Fuck you.”

Another guards laughs.

The same guard points and says loudly, “Look. There!”

The screen shifts to the left, keeping the fire pit and guards in view, but also shows the burned ground and blackened ashes indicating where the lightning struck.

One of the guards states, “That was too damn close!”

One of the guards shouts, “No shit, Captain Obvious.”

Then with a large screen shaking beam of blinding light, lightning strikes the exact same spot, again, only this time with no sound.

Immediately following the flash of white, three dark forms stand where the lightning hit.

The guard who laughed stands and shouts, “What the hell is that?”

The three forms of darkness slowly waft towards the guards.

The guards stands and draw their swords and raises their shields.

---- scene change ------

At the wall of the city guards sit eating a meal together hear a sudden explosion.

They stand in time to see a flaming body fly over their heads and spatter against the tower wall.

They look down to see three forms of darkness fade into shape.

One Red Executioner, one Black Mage, and slightly behind them, a Demon Priest floating in the air just inches above the ground.

Together the trio quickly float towards the city wall's wooden gate.

The captain yells, “To arms! To Arms!”

Several men run carefully down a spiraling set of stone stairs.

The Red Executioner slices through two guards with one swing of his giant ax.

The captain exists the stairs and yells, “Sound the alarm! Sound the alarm!”.

He turns just in time to see the Red Executioner's three heads sequentially spit liquid fire at him.

---- scene change ------

Five guards run and then stop just short of the captain. He is engulfed in flame.

The Red Executioner blocks their moves and cuts them into pieces.

As they continue forward, guards appear in the windows of a nearby tower. They shot arrows at the trio.

But the Demon Priest protects them with an arced dark force shield.

The Black Mage casts a spell. Thunder looms over head. Suddenly the tower and the guards turn to glass.

The Red Executioner throws his massive ax at the tower The ax punched through the tower and the tower and guards shatter into tiny bits and fall like onyx-colored hail onto the ground.

Meanwhile the ax flies through the air in an arc and returns to the Red Executioner's hands.

The trio continue their devastation of the city's streets killing guards, knights, and innocence alike.

Finally, they reach their destination.

The city's graveyard.

Casually they drift inside.

They come to a stop before an old gravestone, one that towers above the rest.

On the face of the stone pillar that marks the grave is a gold plate.

The player's view zooms in on it's face.

It's picture sows a person wearing a dark hood.

The words are unrecognizable.

The Black Mage asks, “What does... What did it say?”

“The Demon Priest, answers, “Here lies, Golbrath, one of the Six Soldiers of God.”

The Black Mage asks, “I thought his name was...”

Just as the mage speak they hear noises from behind them.

The trio turns to spy the commotion. In the distance, two formations of knights run through the graveyard entrance and toward the trio.

One of the knights commands, “They must not continue. Kill them. We must retake the city.”

The Demon Priest moves towards them.

As the knight approach, waves of dark energy flow from the Demon Priest's hands. The skin of the first formation shrivel, creak, and change color. They fall lifeless to the ground.

As the second formation of knights runs past the dead bodies of the comrades, the Demon Priest moves his hands in unison with a chant. The second formation of knight slow their run to a complete stop, six or seven feet from the trio.

Their bodies shake and convulse, violently. Then, they explode. Their remains form a shirt-lived blood-rain.

Only one knight remains, their commander.

The knight draws his broadsword.

“Fight me, you fucking coward!“ the Knight commands.

“As you wish”, the Demon Priest replies.

But first let's me tell you a quick fable.

“What fable could you possibly offer a pure man, demon?” the knight challenges.

“Tis city holds a secret. A deep dark secret that has lasted a millennia. A secret that if known even the noblest among you would lie to conceal.”

“Bullshit, this city has not been around that long.”

“But it has.... Only it was reborn a few hundred years ago from the ashes of genocide.”

“Then, what is the secret?”, the knight asks

“I was once their protector”, The Demon Priest replies.

The knight steps back. “Never.” The knight denies.

“And, now he brings their doom”, the Black Mage injects.

The knight screams, “NEVER!!!”, and he suddenly charges forward.

In slow motion, the knight jumps into the air.

(The view zooms in on the Demon Priest's face.)

The Demon Priest speaks one word. But no text is shown.

(The view returns to the whole.)

As the knight's brave leap through the air, brings him closer to them, he suddenly becomes dust in the air and sifts into the wind and evaporates into nothing.

The Demon Priest turns back and floats to the grave.
